About City Beach Veterinarians

Welcome to City Beach Veterinarians. Where we pride ourselves on caring for your pet’s health and wellbeing as if they were our own. We understand that your pet is an integral part of your family and that’s why we treat every pet like we would our own – after all, we’re all pet owners too!

At City Beach Veterinarians, we’re committed to achieving excellence in all our work. We understand that leaving your animal companion in the care of others is often daunting, especially when they’re being entrusted with maintaining their health and wellbeing. That is why we would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little about ourselves and the personalized services that we offer.

City Beach Veterinarians has been in operation since 1991 and is a progressive modern practice committed to animal care. We have over 25 years of experience caring for the pets of the Perth and are still as passionate about pet care and animal welfare as we were the day we opened our doors.

We are open Monday through to Saturday and to allow early morning patient admits during the week, our nurses start at 7.30am. We strive to make our services as convenient as possible, which often means working alongside business hours. Opening at 7.30am allows you to drop your animal companion off before work and by request, we’re able to care for them throughout the day, so that you can pick them up again on your way home.

Our Veterinarians are available all day for consultations and are always happy to schedule appointments to meet with pet owners and discuss any health related issues or address any well-being concerns. We offer a comprehensive range of general and surgical veterinary services too, ensuring that we can care for all our pets and meet all their health and medical needs.

We are closed on Public Holidays and Sundays: for any After Hours Emergency we recommend the use of a 24-hour emergency facility, as we believe this provides an accessible service to you at night time, whilst we provide excellent veterinary care during the day.

OUR SERVICES INCLUDE:

PUPPY PRESCHOOL CLASSES

The first few months of your newest family members’ life are crucial in shaping their obedience and behavior, as well as ensuring that they’re a well-mannered and good tempered adult.  Puppy school is the best way to assure your companion has the best start in life and grows into a well behaved, friendly dog.

Our expert trainer and behaviourist, Cecile, will work closely with your puppy to set foundations to help them grow into a well-adjusted, relaxed and sociable adult. Cecile will work with both the puppy and the owner, teaching positive techniques, reinforcement methods and basic commands, that can be brought home and practiced to ensure your puppy learns good habits.

We always recommend starting training as early as possible, as the early stages of your new puppy’s life is when they will learn habits and traits that last a lifetime. It is much easier to teach positive habits and correct behavior at this young age than it is to fix them later in life. That’s why we offer our Complete Health Packages, that are mailed monthly and are compromised of the essential health needs your pet requires. Each package includes treatment and medication for fleas, worming, heartworm and routine checkups. Ensuring your companions health is in perfect condition has never been so easy!  Our Complete Health members also receive extra benefits and free services, click here to learn more.

LOST AND FOUND

We understand that trying to find a runaway pet is an extremely distressing experience and that sometimes, despite having a secure house and yard, it is unpreventable. To help relieve some of the stress and anxiety of our clients, we offer a service that keeps a record of all lost and founds pets. So if you’re trying to locate your escape artist or have found someone else’s pet, please give us a call to see if we’re able to assist in the reunion.

MICROCHIPPING

Microchipping your pet acts as a permanent form of identification. We recommend microchips to all our clients because unlike collars that can fall off, microchips are a guaranteed way for rangers, animal shelters and veterinarians to identify your pet and are an easy way to prove ownership. Microchipping is a safe, painless and easy procedure that our vets are extremely experienced in administering, it will only take a few seconds and is inserted like a vaccination. Once completed, your pet is issued a microchip number and both theirs and your details are stored in a national database.

Please note that microchipping is now a legal requirement in WA for all cats and dogs.

DESEXING/STERILISATION SURGERY

Sterilisation is a significant surgical procedure that requires a high level of training, skill and expertise and is often the most major procedure a pet will have. This is why it is imperative that only qualified and experienced vets, like our City Beach Veterinarians, perform this operation.

Just like a hospital for humans, we take great precautionary measures when performing surgery to reduce any associated risks and ensure the health of your pet. This means that we operate in a completely sterile environment, using only sterilised and aseptic instruments, gowns and surgical areas.

Having your pet desexed not only stops unwanted breeding but also has many important medical and behavior benefits. To discuss these benefits and determine whether sterilisation is a good choice for your pet, contact us today and speak to one of our friendly veterinarians

RADIOLOGY

Radiographs, commonly known as X-rays, still remain one of the best and most cost effective ways to assess internal injuries or illnesses. Our veterinarians are registered radiologists and possess the digital imaging equipment to conduct fast, safe and non-invasive x-rays and provide detailed diagnosis.

VIDEO ENDOSCOPY

In addition to our radiograph unit, we also offer in-house video endoscopies to aid us in our diagnosis. A video endoscopy is the visual examination of internal organs using a flexible tube with a video camera attachment, which is inserted into the stomach either through the mouth or rectum. This procedure allows our expert veterinarians to directly.

examine your pet’s internal organs, identifying any abnormalities, determining the cause and then offering treatment advice.

ULTRASONOGRAPHY

Our veterinarians are fully equipped with an ultrasound scanner to help diagnose your pets source of discomfort. Ultrasounds are a painless procedure that uses high frequency sound waves technology to project an image onto a digital screen, which our expertly trained vets can then interpret and provide a diagnosis and treatment solution.

COMPREHENSIVE LABORATORY FOR FAST ACCURATE RESULTS

We have an in-house comprehensive laboratory, equipped with clinical pathology equipment to complete common laboratory testing. We’re able to evaluate blood, fluids and body tissues onsite to give our patients quick analysis and diagnosis.

HYDROBATHING AND DRYING

Hydrobathing is basically a pooch pamper service. Leave your loved one in our care for a few hours and pick them up smelling fresh and feeling great, on both the inside and out. Hydrobathing leaves your pet looking preened to perfection. Book your pooch in for a day of luxury today!

GENERAL CONSULTATIONS

On top of all of our standard and surgical related pet services, we also offer general consultation appointments for routine health checks, to ensure that your friend is fighting fit.

Annual health checks are essential in sustaining a high quality of life for your pet, this is because they age 5-8 times quicker than humans. General health checks help to diagnose, treat or prevent problems before they becoming life-threatening and offer a great opportunity to chat with an expert about how to care for an aging pet or ask advice on anything that is concerning you.

Our general consultation services include:

  • Health checks and general examinations
  • Dental care
  • Nail clipping
  • Blood tests
  • Urinalysis
  • Parasite & heart check

NUTRITION AND DIET ADVICE

Our veterinarians are always available to discuss the dietary needs of your pet and offer nutritional advice. Call (08) 9245 1977 to make an appointment to speak with one of our veterinarians or schedule some time at the end of your pets next grooming session or health check for a quick chat.

To get started, our vets strongly recommend you:

  • Feed your pet a premium quality balanced diet
  • Ensure that they always have access to clean, fresh water.
  • Feed them the right amount. This means feeding them according to their ideal weight, which is not necessarily their current weight.
  • Do not feed them large amounts at the one time.
  • Avoid feeding them ‘people food’ as their digestive systems cannot handle them in the same way that ours can.
  • Exercise, exercise, exercise! Not only will regular walks and runs help fight obesity and keep their body functions fluid, but it will also help to stimulate brain activity.
