Update on City Beach Veterinarians’ Covid-19 policy July 2020

We continue to take the risk of Covid-19 seriously. As the restrictions in our WA society are reduced we wanted to update all our clients of Covid-19 related changes to our procedures that we will keep in place. These changes have created opportunities to allow better flexibility in our work and allow more time with your pets whilst maintaining social distancing and hygiene. As we have seen from the Victorian situation there remains a risk of local outbreaks.

We would like to reassure you that your pets are not known risk factors, public spaces and close human contact are. We are committed to ensuring that we minimise any risk to you and our staff.

In the Hospital

  1. We have changed our vet roster. Monday to Friday we now have two vets on all day and all appointments are 30 minutes. This allows for better care of your pet and allows greater flexibility when we have very sick pets in hospital to ensure each pet gets the best care possible.
  2. To enable this to change we have employed a part time vet – we welcome Dr Sonia Benwath to our team.
  3. We will continue to have the consultation with you first to discuss your pet’s history, your concerns and our plans. We will then take your pet to the treatment room to perform the examination and any treatments where our trained nurses will hold them.
  4. We will continue to keep the waiting room as empty as possible. You may be placed in a consult room ahead of your appointment to enable us to do this. We find this reduces stress for pets.
  5. We continue with our increased disinfection measures within the hospital
  6. Our staff members are following the Australian Government Department of Health coronavirus (COVID-19) advice for protecting themselves and others.
  7. If you require foods or medications please email or phone ahead and we can have these ready for you.

What if you are unwell?

  1. Do not come to the vets if you are unwell
  2. If you have a pet emergency during this time but are unwell, please call us on (08) 9245 1977 to discuss the best way for us to ensure your pet receives the care required.
  3. If your pet requires medication please phone or email and we will help you out  – you can get a well friend to collect it and payment can be made via phone or direct debit.

We all need to work together to ensure there is minimal risk of spreading this viral disease. We remain committed to looking after you and your beloved pets safely during this time. Advice regarding COVID-19 is changing daily so always check the Australian Government Department of Health website.
